Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
The Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM ($399.99 direct) isn't as sexy as the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM that many pros swear by due to its light-gathering capability and rendering that creates an amazingly shallow depth of field, but at a quarter of the price of its faster sibling it's a relative bargain.
Pros:
- Sharp
- Internal focus motor
- Fast aperture
- Affordably priced
Cons:
- No vibration reduction
- Lens hood not included

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Review
The 50mm f/1.4 USM isn't Canon's top-of-the-line 50mm lens, but it is a solid performer. The Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM ($399.99 direct)($399.00 at Amazon) isn't as sexy as the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM($1,349.00 at Dell) that many pros swear by due to its light-gathering capability and rendering that creates an amazingly shallow depth of field, but at a quarter of the price of its faster sibling it's a relative bargain. The lens is sharp throughout its aperture range, and like all of Canon's autofocus lenses, has an internal focus motor for fast, quiet operation. It isn't quite as sharp as our Editors' Choice for standard-angle lenses, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G($376.95 at Amazon), but the differences between the two lenses aren't significant enough to make Canon shooters jump ship and invest in a Nikon camera system. The lens is compact at 2 by 2.9 inches (HD) and fairly light at 10.2 ounces. Like the similar Nikon 50mm f/1.4, it uses 58mm filters and can focus as close as 1.5 feet. The fast aperture will let you create an impressively shallow depth of field, especial...

Good lenses, but not worth the price.
The Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II lens being one of my favorite lens I own, I tought of upgrading it to this one. Is this one better? Undeniably, but considering the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II cost about 25% of the price of this one, the difference in build quality, USM and picture quality doesn't justify paying...

- Good value
- Lightweight
- Sharp

Väldigt bra fast objektiv
Bra och prisvärt
Pros:
- Min favoritglugg, lågt bländartal och därmed kort skärpedjup och förmåga att fota när det är lite mörkare för rätt så lite pengar
- Perfekt för porträtt och närbilder.
Cons:
- Att skärperingen inte har något stopp

Great Value - Fantastic results
If you are looking for a prime lens that is good value for money, stop and take a look at this Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens. This is truly an underrated lens. I have to admit after purchasing this lens (and I have several L series) that this is my favourite lens, especially on APS-C sensor cameras like...

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM - Popular yet showing its age.
The Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM is probably the most common non-L-Series lens that you'll see in most professional photographers' camera bags. While the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II Lens , commonly known as the "Nifty Fifty" is most common with amateur photographers and hobbyists, you'll actually be able to...
Pros:
- Low price point
- Good bokeh wide-open
- Non-rotating front element
- Solid construction
Cons:
- Soft performance wide-open
- No ring USM
- Sigma is much better
