Fitbit Ionic Preview
The Fitbit Ionic is an ambitious and promising smartwatch with a focus on fitness and accurate tracking, but its success will depend on the growth of its app ecosystem. Ever since Fitbit bought Pebble last year, the question wasn't if the company was going to release a smartwatch, but when. The answer is finally here, in the form of the $299.95 Fitbit Ionic. It's a smartwatch-fitness tracker hybrid with an open SDK, superb battery life, and NFC payments, making it more of a competitor to the Apple Watch than Fitbit's other, more fitness-centric devices. You won't find standalone cellular connectivity like you get in the new Apple Watch, and a lot is riding on how well Fitbit builds out its app ecosystem over time. But if you're looking for a smartwatch that puts fitness first, the Ionic deserves a spot on your short list.A Familiar Face At a glance, the Ionic looks like a cross between the Apple Watch Series 3 and the Fitbit Blaze, thanks to a rectangular touch LCD that stands out from many of the circular smartwatches on the market. The screen measures 1.2 by 0.85 inches (HW), about 1.5 inches diagonally, and features a resolution of 348 by 250 ...- Vibrant screen

Known GPS Issues
When I say know, obviously I didn't know about the problem until after I had purchased it. But after the first use with huge distance errors I searched the internet and found a Fitbit Community help page for the GPS problem that went back to October of 2017.The problem is that somehow Fitbit...
Disappointed: Not as described with reference to payments capability
Payments made easy Fitbit Ionic includes a built-in NFC chip, which lets you store and use your credit cards right on the watch with just a few simple swipes. The above is the claim in the product description on the John Lewis website.
Great watch for mountain biking.
Great watch for biking. I had a Fitbit charge 2 hr. this does everything it does and much more. Best thing is the built in gps which means I don't need to risk taking my phone to track route in Strava. Waterproof means now worries in heavy rain when biking.
ironic
after a week and a half, the blue tooth stopped. When it says Android and windows 10 there are some other specifics. Basically if you don't have an IPAD, or someother "I" product IFIT is not your fit.
Huge improvement over the Blaze
Have been playing around with the Ionic for over 24hrs now and absolutely loving it. Display has improved significantly over the Blaze. Loving the magnetic charging cable over the Blaze's clunky charging cable.Heaps of watch faces to choose from. App Store still new offering very little options.

Fitbit Ionic: A decent fitness watch but not all that smart
Fitbit has led the way in the fitness band market for some time now, but in the smartwatch arena, it has struggled. Its first watch was the Surge, which worked well for fitness duties but struggled to compete with smartwatches for style or smart features.- Bright
- clear screen
- Long battery life
- Sleek design
- Not many apps
- Patchy synchronisation
- Poor notification handling
