Fujifilm Instax Mini LiPlay Review

Fuji's smallest, lightest instant camera ever is more of a digital camera with a built-in printer, albeit one that still uses Instax format film. You compose with an LCD screen, not a viewfinder, and if your shots don't look too hot you don't have to print them, which is less wasteful - if not quite as charming as a true instant camera. The digital versions it saves aren't particularly detailed or high quality, but audio recordings add extra novelty, and its smartphone companion app is second-to-none. No other Instax can slip into a pocket like the LiPlay can, and it's reasonably priced too. It's not perfect, but it is the best hybrid around right now.

Shoots vibrant Instax photos, either from the camera or from your phone; Small form factor ideal for spur of the moment use; Smartphone app now a lot more flexible than previous Instax hybrids;

Difficult to compose photos in bright light using LCD screen; Limited battery life makes all-day use a challenge; Autofocus slow and only has one central focus point;

The Instax Mini LiPlay is a fun camera to use. There are plenty of built-in filters and frames, so it makes a great gift for younger kids that might not have smartphones yet and older kids and teens that will enjoy taking it to parties and photographing groups of friends.

Fujifilm instax mini LiPlay Camera Blush Gold - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Fujifilm instax mini LiPlay Camera Blush Gold - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

Fujifilm instax mini LiPlay Camera Blush Gold - Brand New review

It's easy to get carried away and lose sight of just how far we've come in the smartphone world. Apple's iPhone 14 is 7.8 millimeters thick but can communicate directly with satellites, boasts photographic talents that eclipse dedicated cameras and action cams, and does so starting at just $799.

Improved low-light camera performance, Clever safety features (you hope you won't need)

Improvements feel evolutionary, eSIM may prove a headache, iPhone 13 offers much the same for $100 less

Fujifilm Instax Mini LiPlay Review

With an excellent, easy-to-use app, the Instax Mini LiPlay gets hybrid instant cameras right.

Digital camera plus mobile printer; Fun sound-recording feature; App works very well; LCD screen; MicroSD expandability

Poor battery life; no replaceable battery; No creative exposure modes; Limited options for mobile printing

Fujifilm Instax Mini LiPlay Blush Gold LIPLAY GOLD review

The Fujifilm Instax Mini LiPlay is a fun point-and-shoot camera with a built-in printer that works with Instax film.

On-demand instant photo printing; Compact; Affordable; Instax Mini film is readily available.

No in-camera editing; Not great in dim light; Subpar rear display; Image quality isn't competitive with flagship smartphones; Audio recording is a gimmick; No film included.

Fujifilm Instax Mini LiPlay Review

How do you sell a budget-priced point-and-shoot camera when smartphones have become so good at taking pictures? Fujifilm hopes the answer is to simply add an instant film printer, as evidenced in the Instax Mini LiPlay ($159.95), which is priced low enough to be considered an impulse purchase. There are some rough edges we would like to see smoothed out, but overall it's a very fun camera to use, one with special appeal to social butterflies and party photographers. After all, it's cool to share phone shots on Instagram, but there's no substitute to handing someone a print of a great candid capture. Cute and Compact The Instax Mini LiPlay is a cute little camera. It's about as small as can be managed while still holding a pack of Instax film, coming in at 4.8 by 3.3 by 1.4 inches (HWD) and 8.9 ounces. Its digital nature, which makes a much smaller lens possible, definitely has advantages over purely analog models. The entry-level Instax Mini 9 is bigger all around, at 4.7 by 4.6 ...

Fujifilm instax mini LiPlay Camera Blush Gold - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 comes to market with the same launch price as the previous generation. At the same time, iPhone connoisseurs were more than disillusioned after the presentation of the new smartphone. Apple leaves large parts of the hardware unchanged and does not dare to change the design.

Top performance level despite last year's chip, Very high quality workmanship, Improved image and video quality, Excellent battery life

Hardly any innovations, Charging takes too long for 2022
