Honor Magic V2 review: a milestone for foldable design

Alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 or Google Pixel Fold, the Honor Magic V2 looks like it's plucked out of the future. It's thin, light, and has a comfortable-sized cover screen as well as best-in-class battery life.
Pros:
  • Thinnest foldable hardware & premium design, Comfortable front screen, Long-lasting battery, Pen support on both screens
Cons:
  • Underbaked unfolded interface, Misses out on wireless charging, No water-resistance rating, Very expensive

Honor Magic V2 Review: Thin and Foldable

In July 2023, Honor unveiled the thinnest foldable currently available in its home country with the Honor Magic V2. The global launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 competitor then followed at IFA 2023. I was lucky enough to check out the smartphone then, having spent some time with it.
Pros:
  • Very thin, Plenty of memory, Pleasant UI, Honor really went green this time, Amazing battery life
Cons:
  • Heavy, Too expensive, Presence of bloatware, No premium SoC, No IP certification, Foldable-friendly software is missing

Honor Magic V2 review: fabulous foldable running so-so software Honor Magic V2 review: fabulous foldable running so-so software

It’s thin and light enough to feel like a regular smartphone when folded. That’s impressive. I just wish Honor’s software were as svelte. It’s thin and light enough to feel like a regular smartphone when folded. That’s impressive. I just wish Honor’s software were as svelte.

Honor Magic V2- Review

This is an important phone for Honor as mentioned as it is them making a statement that they want to play in the Foldable market on the global stage (the previous Magic V was a Chinese-only release) and they have come out strong and also undercut their rivals in the space in doing so.

Honor Magic V2 review: exquisite hardware let down by software

The Honor Magic V2 is an exquisite piece of hardware with software that can’t quite live up to expectations. The folder is so close to being a regular phone when folded that it’s easy to forget a giant screen hides on the inside.
Pros:
  • Pros: super-slim and light phone and tablet in one, just like a normal phone when closed, great performance, very long battery life, great internal screen, good fingerprint scanner.
Cons:
  • Cons: no water resistance, very expensive, costly to repair, software not as refined as needed, short software support, older chips, camera performance lags top competitors.
