Samsung Galaxy S22+ review: Playing it safe
The Galaxy S22+ is an exercise in refinement. It's more polished, but it doesn't exactly feel fresh. On one hand, this isn't surprising. The phone market is mature, and the days of big new features every year are long gone.
Pros:
- Stunning screen, Great build quality, Solid battery
Cons:
- Camera not as good as competitors, Very iterative

Good news is that the Galaxy S22 Plus price is the same as last year at $1,000 for the base 8G/128GB model, while $50 on top of that gets you an 8G/256GB model and that seems like the optimal configuration.
Pros:
- Superb display, Beautiful design, Adequate battery life, Good hapitcs and audio quality, Okay performrance
Cons:
- Oversharpened photos, Noisy low-light image quality, Not very ergonomic, Marginal improvements over Galaxy S21 Plus, Gets hot during gaming and heavier load

The S22+ offers a slim and well-built design, with a stunning display, feature-packed software and improved cameras, but there are flaws in the battery and camera software that should have been addressed before this phone made it to market.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus review
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus falls into the riptide between the compact and relatively inexpensive S22, and the flashy and feature-packed S22 Ultra, and will struggle to find much love compared to them. Perhaps it doesn’t deserve to either because useful features like its powerful processor, photography modes, and attractive appearance don’t quite offset its high price. Its design doesn’t feel comfortable in your hand, and its software feels slower than on rival phones.
Pros:
- Lots of processing power
- Useful Portrait camera modes
- Nice range of colors
Cons:
- Very expensive
- Not particularly comfortable to hold
- Software feels slow

Everything about the Galaxy S22+ feels premium but it lacks a certain wow factor, particularly next to Samsung’s other £949 folding flip phone . The screen is great, the camera is good, performance is snappy and the battery life is reasonable.
Pros:
- Pros: 120Hz screen, good camera, One UI 4.1/Android 12, good performance, decent battery life, fast fingerprint scanner, five years of software support, contains recycled materials, premium feel.
Cons:
- Cons: big, expensive, no headphone socket, battery life and camera bettered by others, no flashy features.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ review: Finding that flagship sweet spot?
The Samsung Galaxy S22+ is a safe but welcome update to the middle of the family. This model may suit a great number of users - especially those who now don't feel drawn to the S Pen-wielding Ultra. The S22+ is capable in all areas, but it doesn't change hugely from the Galaxy S21+ that came before it.
Pros:

- Smooth software and flagship performance
- Neat overall design
- Solid all-round performer
Cons:
- Minor differences to Galaxy S21+ overall mean there's not a lot to get excited about
