Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 review: More than just a fashion icon

Smartphones continue to improve and evolve, but when it comes to visual differentiation, few companies have impressed as much as Samsung did in 2021. That's because the South Korean manufacturer has just firmly established itself in the foldable smartphone market with the third-generation Z series.
Pros:
  • Amazing design, Flexible screen, IPX8 certification, Four years of system update, Rear camera doubles up as front camera
Cons:
  • Camera could have been better, Battery capacity is below average for its category

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 review: Flippin' marvellous

Although not a giant leap forward compared to its predecessor, the Z Flip 3 is a much more fluidly designed device, with that front screen now beautifully integrated. It's the best flip phone we've seen to date (sorry Moto Razr) - and with a price tag to tackle 'normal' flagships head-on, it'll certainly turn some minds around, despite a few inevitable compromises that are part and parcel of a foldable device.
Pros:
  • Larger front screen is much better looking and more neatly integrated
  • The tidiest flip phone design of any maker to date
  • Plenty of power and sturdy software
Cons:
  • Largely similar to predecessor
  • Screen coating is unavoidably reflective and ongoing 'crease' issues remain
  • No under panel camera (UPC) - as seen in Z Fold 3

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 256GB Black SM-F711BZKEXNZ review

After spending some time with the Flip 3 in the real world, I’ve come to realize a few things: I like being able to fold a phone, put it away and focus on work or living in the moment. But I can also turn a regular phone face down to do that.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 256GB Black SM-F711BZKEXNZ review

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 benefits from a series of small but meaningful improvements to Samsung’s first folding-screen flip phone that make it almost ready for the mainstream. Open it, and it behaves just like a regular, large-screen premium Android smartphone, but one you can close with a satisfying...
Pros:
  • Pros: a great large screen that folds in half, good cover screen, screen protected when closed, IPX8 water resistant, good cameras, exciting and different, One UI 3 (Android 11) with four years of updates.
Cons:
  • Cons: screen softer and less scratch resistant than a regular phone, no dust resistance, no telephoto camera, only a day’s battery life, expensive.

  • Larger, More Useful Cover Screen, Improved Build Quality, Cheaper Price Compared to Last Iteration
