“The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the first folding smartphone most people should consider buying. It's compact, powerful, and durable, and costs about the same as its competitors. Plus, it's really fun to use.”
The Galaxy Z Flip3 has a powerful processor and an elegant folding design, but its portability and style come at the cost of battery life.
Flagship-level application performance, Good front-facing camera, Beautifully designed, Waterproof
Shorter battery life than other flagships, Primary cameras are just OK
Samsung released two previous Z Flip models, but the second one really only added 5G to the first model. I spent months and thousands of dollars on the Galaxy Fold and then the Z Fold 2 , but never had the chance to even see a Z Flip model in person.
IPX8 water-resistant, Reasonable price, Beautiful foldable display, Functional cover display
Cameras could be better, Not easy to open with one hand, Battery life isn't the greatest
The story of folding phones thus far has been one of compromise. Choosing a folding phone over a standard slab design has generally meant you compromised on performance, durability, and most of all, price.
It folds in half, It costs the same as other high-end phones, It’s water resistant, Inside screen is as good as other premium phones
Long-term screen durability still a question, Cameras aren’t top tier, Cover screen still too small and limited, Difficult to open one-handed
Form factor is seriously versatile, cover display aids in taking high-resolution selfies, overall flagship-level performance
Battery life is shorter than other similarly-priced phones, folding form factor requires a learning curve, Android apps aren't entirely optimized
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 got improvements in every area. From price to durability and everything in between.
Bigger & more usable Cover Display, Main Display is now 120Hz, Incredibly low $999 price, IPX8 rated for water resistant, More durable overall
Battery life is not great, Cameras are just OK, Still very tall, slightly awkward to use
Samsung's new foldables are formidable thanks to improved mechanics and refined designs....
With a $999 starting price, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is an "affordable" foldable, with a 6.7-inch FHD+ inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer display is four times bigger and more durable than its predecessor, but the 3,300 mAh battery has us worried about the Flip 3’s longevity.
More affordable, Enhanced durability, Bigger cover display, 120Hz refresh rate on inner display, IPX8 water resistance
Terrible battery life, Slow charging, No telephoto lens, Crease is still noticeable
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is probably the best clamshell foldable phone out there right now - not that that says much with the limited competition - though it doesn’t present any major changes to its predecessor.
Just ‘expensive’, not ‘very expensive’, Flip design feels durable
Still feels wide in the hand, Cameras aren’t fantastic
Although not a giant leap forward compared to its predecessor, the Z Flip 3 is a much more fluidly designed device, with that front screen now beautifully integrated. It's the best flip phone we've seen to date (sorry Moto Razr) - and with a price tag to tackle 'normal' flagships head-on, it'll certainly turn some minds around, despite a few inevitable compromises that are part and parcel of a foldable device.
Larger front screen is much better looking and more neatly integrated; The tidiest flip phone design of any maker to date; Plenty of power and sturdy software;
Largely similar to predecessor; Screen coating is unavoidably reflective and ongoing 'crease' issues remain; No under panel camera (UPC) - as seen in Z Fold 3;
