Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G (512GB, Silver) - Excellent review

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a solid step forward for Samsung’s flagship foldable line, offering a more durable design, solid component upgrades and improved multi-tasking. But the screens’ atypical aspect ratios still come with some usability compromises.
Pros:
  • Much tougher than past versions, Powerful performance, Bright, punch main screen that’s great for gaming, You’re a power user that likes to have THE latest gadgets: The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first foldable I’ve used that doesn’t feel like a prototype thanks to general improvements to its software...
Cons:
  • Apps still don’t always display correctly, You want the best phone or tablet experience possible: Despite excellent work by Samsung improving the Fold 3, the screens’ atypical aspect ratios still hinder the overall user experience.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 512GB Black SM-F926BZKGXNZ review

If you’re sold on the perks of the foldable concept, though, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is its best proponent yet.
Pros:
  • Uniquely expansive main display, Plenty of power, Refined, more robust foldable design
Cons:
  • Cameras aren’t competitive with the very best, Still very expensive, No S Pen bundled in

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 512GB Black SM-F926BZKGXNZ review

The future makes skeptics of us all, and folding phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 still face an uphill battle. While the third generation of the range-topping foldable costs less than its predecessor, at $1,800 it’s still a laptop-priced commitment to a form factor that remains controversial.
Pros:
  • Foldable design feels like the future of phones, One UI 3 makes apps usable on an Android tablet, Cheaper than previous Fold models, Waterproofing adds reassurance
Cons:
  • Still incredibly expensive for a phone, Cameras are good, but not stand-out, Under-display camera is distracting, S Pen sold separately and there's nowhere to store it

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 512GB Black SM-F926BZKGXNZ review

For all its qualities, there are still some conceptual issues with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 that start to annoy over time. By the second week of use, we did grow tired of the smaller screen and its squished controls.
Pros:
  • Stunning displays Snappy processor Stronger hinge
Cons:
  • Very expensive Middling cameras

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G (512GB, Silver) - Excellent review

The world of foldables hasn’t really set our eyelids on fire like we’d hoped, but they are coming along. Three generations of foldable in, Samsung’s chunky chap is more interesting than ever, and feels like a worthy option for someone who lives a life around entertainment.
Pros:
  • Still a really cool idea, Excellent performance, Fantastic entertainment device, Includes an under-screen camera (!), Rear cameras can be used as a selfie camera, Supports 5G, Wireless charging, Water resistant
Cons:
  • Very, very thick, Under-screen camera isn't great, Rear camera shots need to be sharper, No 8K video capture, S-Pen support feels like it's been thrown in as opposed to designed to be truly used with the Fold 3, Not a major leap on last year's Fold 2

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G (512GB, Silver) - Excellent review

This can be considered two phones in one, ‘folded’ it’s a little narrow compared to most recent offering, ‘unfolded’ you need large hands or a flat surface to lay it on. Having told you about the Samsung Flip last year here is its big brother the Samsung Fold.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 512GB Black SM-F926BZKGXNZ review

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the best possible case Samsung can make for a phone that unfolds into a small tablet. It’s the fourth iteration of the same basic idea, refined and repaired over the course of years following an embarrassing false-start failure on the first attempt.
Pros:
  • Water resistant, Vastly improved screen feel, Multitasking on Android much better
Cons:
  • Terrible under-screen selfie camera, Heavy and awkward as a phone, Expensive

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 512GB Black SM-F926BZKGXNZ review

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a progressive, forward-thinking, innovative phone. I genuinely think this device will lay the groundwork for future hybrid foldables—part phone, part tablet. But it still has a lot of growing to do before it’s worth almost $2000.
Pros:
  • Truly innovative, futuristic phone, IPX8 water resistance
Cons:
  • Big, bulky, and heavy, The cover screen is narrow and cramped, Cumbersome when opened, Cameras are disappointing, Expensive
