A good buy. Great Value.
The sony 55-210 is definitely for those looking for a zoom lens on a budget, especially since there's not much selection in the market in the first place. The image quality is average, but adequate. You pay for what you get. If you are looking for top notch IQ, you shouldn't be looking at this.

very nice compliment to the kit lens for my sony A6000 -- picks up at the 55 mm focal length and gives good reach for more distant subjects. this makes for a compact and light weight kit for travel and hiking. focus is fast and accurate. OSS makes for reasonable hand holding of telephoto shots.

Good value lens
Very good value mild-to-long telephoto all-rounder although image can be a little soft at times. Focussing is noticably slower than the standard lens.
Pros:
- Easily Interchangeable
- Lightweight
Cons:
- Slow Focus

Ideal Budget Lens for Sony E-Mount Camera with APS-C sensor
A nice zoom lens. With body made of Mag-Alloy, silent AF motor AND built-in Image Stabilisation (IS). On top of everything, this lens has "Focus Tracking Compatibility" with E-mount Cameras, which is of GREAT help, when shooting moving objects (in decent light) at the 210mm end.

Great Budget Telephoto zoom
Bought this used off of ebay and its been great. Great for sports stuff where you need the range and the autofocus is quick. Only problem is the relatively small aperture which makes it hard to use indoors if there isnt a lot of light but for the price not much to complain about.

I apologize for not adding much new material to the review of my learned colleague below. But I do want to corroborate and support his thoughts and insights. Folks who did not buy an A6000 and 55-210 lens for $550 total (I got mine from Adorama, with whom I have no connection) in the recent holiday...
Pros:
- Small
- good reach
- quite good IQ when you are smart and lucky-an exceptional value at the sometimes kit-price of $150 with its soulmate
- the A6000
Cons:
- No aspect of it is as good as a Canon 6D with the 70-200 2.8 IS II
- On the other hand the lens prices are in a ratio of about 12 to 1

The lens has an excellent range and does its job perfectly. This helps me in utilizing full potential of my NEX 5R ,as the 18-55 lens is certainly not enough! However, I am not satisfied with the seller "Sunset Electronics", who listed this item as brand now, but, nowhere mentioned that the lens has...
