For the past eight months I've listened to music in my digital workspace/home office through a review unit of the Logitech UE Boom Speaker , connected via Bluetooth to my Mac Mini .
One of the best "little" speakers in the world, the Ultimate Ears Boom produces some incredible sound for its $229.99 price. With built-in volume controls, a robust water-resistant body and microUSB charging, the UE Boom speaker is tiny but powerful.
Forget Jambox . It's officially been replaced, at least to my ears, by the Ultimate Ears Boom: A portable wireless speaker that sounds almost as good as a much larger home system. It also has a brilliant stereo mode that lets you set up two Booms to act as a stereo pair.
First off I like this little speaker in terms of sound quality, functionality and general ease of use. HOWEVER! Beware the battery! I have used this thing a lot and have found if you use less than 70% volume, it will last 10+ hours.
The Ultimate Ears Boom is a cool product. It has the looks, the build and the extra features to be an extremely attractive speaker.
Cool and funky design; Compact and portable;Easy to connect and use; Big; open sound; Plenty of detail; Good dynamics and rhythm;Great app and extra features
Could do with a touch more subtlety and refinement
The UE Boom is one of those tech products that a lot of audio geeks have been talking about. For those unfamiliar with Ultimate Ears, the niche headphone manufacturer put themselves on the map by producing high-end and excellent sounding in-ear monitors and earbud style headphones.
Great Packaging; Unique Design; Fun To Use; Hi-Fi Caliber Sound On the Go
Lack of Bass
. It really lives up to its name, delivering top-notch sound quality that's nearly impossible to find in most speakers twice its size. Of course, that kind of quality comes at a price – a $200 price, to be exact.
Ultimate Ears is joining the portable speaker revolution with the Boom, a cylindrical speaker that does more than just play back your tunes. It can also survive in more places than your average soundmaker.
Very loud; Loud; Works while being charged; Highly water resistant; Tripod mountable; Can be paired with a second Boom speaker for more sound or stereo separation
Bass isn't as strong as you might like; Tripod mount is very; very hard to remove the first time
An attractive and deafeningly loud Bluetooth speaker with waterproof credentials, the Ultimate Ears Boom is a neat speaker. But can it justify its high cost? Read our full review to find out!
The Ultimate Ears UE Boom is a convenient, cool-looking portable Bluetooth speaker that offers superb volume for its small size. However, like most other style-obsessed portable speakers of late, it seems expensive given the sound quality and level of tech sophistication it really brings to the...
Seriously loud; Attractive design; Solid battery life
Expensive; Socket placement ruins waterproofing
