Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB - Pacific Blue MGDA3X/A review
The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the best incarnation of the iPhone to date. This is a must-have for photo and video fans, while the large screen and extra battery life make it appealing for everyday use, even if it is a beast for size.- Great screen
- Impressive camera
- LiDAR scanner for AR
- Pro video with Dolby Vision
- Fast processor and 5G
- Premium pricing
- Two hands required
- No high refresh
- Not really pocket-sized
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max (128GB, Gold) - Pristine review
With size and heft being the only notable issue in the iPhone 12 Pro Max, it seems all too easy to call Apple’s biggest and best iPhone perfect. It’s almost perfect. If size and heft are a concern — and you wouldn’t be alone in thinking that way — the iPhone 12 Pro Max may well be out of reach, but...- Beautiful screen, New design language makes it easier to hold, Can stand up on its own, Fantastic camera, Even more capable camera than the 12 Pro, Support for 5G, Water resistance, Wireless charging
- Size may throw people off, Weight is hefty
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB - Pacific Blue MGDA3X/A review
Apple's iPhone 12 Pro Max has a lot in common with its smaller sibling. Think: a new design, expansive 5G network support and amazing performance, to name just a few. Because they're so similar, we think the smaller iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are better options for most people, but if you can handle an...- Best-in-class performance
- Big and beautiful screen
- Improved triple-camera system
- Way too big for some
- Cameras can be temperamental
Review: iPhone 12 Pro Max deserves a spot in your pocket -- if you can get it to fit
With a big battery, outstanding cameras and the largest screen ever on an iPhone, the 12 Pro Max has big phone energy. The iPhone 12 Pro Max ($1,099 at Amazon) follows in the footsteps of the 7 Plus and gets camera upgrades that none of the other iPhone 12 models have. At its core the iPhone 12 Pro Max, like all the phones in the iPhone 12 family (the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Mini), has a bunch of things going for it like a new flat-sided design reminiscent of the iPhone 5 and iPad Pro. It has support for 5G, an OLED screen with support for HDR, a ceramic shield covering, an A14 Bionic processor, support for MagSafe wireless charging and it can be submerged to a depth of 6 meters (just under 20 feet) for up to 30 minutes. If you want a deeper assessment of any of these features, take a look at my iPhone 12 and 12 Pro review.- Premium design and build
- Outstanding cameras
- Great battery life
- 5G support
- The large camera bump
- The lack of iPadOS-like features
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB - Pacific Blue MGDA3X/A review
Apple's biggest phone to date excels as a photographic tool, especially in the dark.- It sets a new bar for low-light photography, even if the bar isn't drastically higher than the competition. If you like big phones, you'll love the massive screen. Excellent battery life. Also makes phone calls.
- Expensive. No 120-Hz refresh rate or USB-C port, two features commonly found on other large phones at this price.
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB - Pacific Blue MGDA3X/A review
Such a large phone that it won't be to everyone's liking, but if you want big then this iPhone delivers without making the form-factor awkward to hold or use.- Great cameras
- 5G connectivity when you need it
- Big and bold screen
- Design is large but not awkward
- A14 Bionic processing power
- Low-light photography enhancements could be better
- Much the same experience as the cheaper (and smaller) iPhone 12 Pro
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB - Pacific Blue MGDA3X/A review
The Pro Max’s 6.7-inch display is the largest screen ever on an iPhone. It has the biggest camera sensor of any iPhone, including the three other iPhone 12 models Apple announced this year. It has a 5G radio, and it’s got a bigger battery. It is without question the most iPhone you can get.- Terrific camera
- Tremendous battery life
- Fast performance
- Very close to being too big
- 60Hz screen behind competition at this price
- I was required to think about 5G
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB - Pacific Blue MGDA3X/A review
It’s an iPhone 12 Pro, only bigger. The super-long battery life is the real draw here, while the improved camera doesn’t offer much benefit over the already-fantastic iPhone 12 Pro.- Best battery life ever in an iPhone, A slightly better camera than the iPhone 12 Pro, Blazing fast performance
- Camera improvements are minimal
