The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo, with its built-in instant film printer, is a good fit for photographers looking for a new creative outlet, but can be frustrating to handle if you're accustomed to pro cameras. The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo ($199.95) combines classic instant photography and modern digital tech into one package, relying on a digital sensor to snap photos but letting you print images onto Instax Mini film. The camera marries the charm of modern analogs like the Instax Mini 11 with the trappings of digital imaging, with filter effects and color looks, plus the ability to print only the photos you choose. A retro-themed spin on instant photography that puts fun first, the Mini Evo is our favorite hybrid instant camera so far. It's far more pocketable than Fuji's other Instax cameras, with autofocus, auto exposure and auto shutter speed making it more point-and-shoot friendly to boot. The digital-first approach and lack of optical viewfinder might put off fans of true analogue photography, and the low resolution means it won't replace even a basic digital camera. But the Mini Evo's ability to double as a printer for your smartphone is slick, and its numerous built-in effects and filters are a neat way to experiment without wasting film.
