Linksys Velop
When positioned correctly, Velop delivers great wireless speeds over a wide area, ensuring all your devices stay connected, and it's a doddle to configure. But this simplicity carries a high cost.- Simple
- app-based setup
- Fully modular mesh network
- Inconspicuous design
- Pricey in comparison
- Performance too dependent on position
Linksys Velop Review
The Linksys Velop is an easy way to get reliable, high-speed Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home. However, its high price means competing systems offer better value.- Easy to set up
- Faster than a single router
- Great coverage
- Expensive
- Third node reduces performance
- Basic feature set
- Slower than key rival
Intermittent router outages!
I have been plagued with intermittent wifi outages despite resetting the routers several times. They are all connected to ethernet ports as well. The overall customer experience is not good.
Mesh network provides excellent range; easy setup but few advanced features available
When I evaluate a new router's wireless performance, I always connect it in parallel with one of my existing routers, apply updates and configure it to my liking, and then replace the old router with the new one in the exact same physical location.- This ships as three identical devices which the Linksys app configures into a parent node and two child nodes
- The parent node is the one that connects to the internet, replacing your existing wi-fi router.
- I found throughput on the 2.4 GHz band to be lower than with my other wi-fi routers. I suspect the channel finder decided to use 20 MHz channel widths instead of 40 MHz
- unfortunately there is no way to confirm or control that using the Linksys app
Linksys Velop review: Save £145 on this flexible system
Ultimately, it's this performance and the high price that make the Velop a less tempting purchase than its competitors. If you can get by with two access points and want to replace your existing router, the Netgear Orbi has more features and better performance and is cheaper.- Flexible configuration
- Good coverage and speed
- High price
- Not as fast as BT Whole Home Wi-Fi
We have a large house 6 Bedrooms, Double Brick downstairs and suspended concrete slab as upstairs floor. I bought 4 Linksys Velop and only really needed 3 of them to send a signal to all areas of the house even downstairs where the signal has to penetrate the concrete floor.
Great for large spaces
Pushing WiFi signal through several walls across 18,000 square feet. These three nodes fill the space sufficiently and leave the opportunity open if we want to fill the space even better with more nodes in the future. Very strong signal.
Linksys Velop Whole Home Wi-Fi System
The Linksys Velop -- Belkin's first home mesh Wi-Fi system -- finds itself right between the Google Wifi and Netgear Orbi in terms of performance. There is room in this new category for routers of different product tiers, but with middling performance, the fewest features and the highest price of...- The Linksys Velop delivers fast Wi-Fi speed over a large area
- Its hardware is well designed, and the system is generally easy to use
- The system is expensive and lacks basic settings as well as common features
- An account is required for its mobile app to work and its parental control feature is poorly designed
My wide and old house got poor WiFi because of solid internal walls
My wide and old house got poor WiFi because of solid internal walls. careful positioning of these has allowed wifi everywhere, expensive but worth it for us.
Linksys Velop AC6600 WHW0303 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi Review
The Linksys Velop is the first WiFi system from Linksys to join the wireless mesh network systems niche, along with the older Eero , Luma, Ubiquiti AmpliFI HD and the more recent Google WiFi .
